The University of Arizona is accepting applications for an Associate General Counsel position in its Office of the General Counsel. This is a position for a transactional attorney who will be responsible for advising and representing University administrators and providing advice and counsel related to UA business matters including, but not limited to, complex business transactions, contracts, public procurement, gifting, real estate, and financing. The Office of the General Counsel represents and advises the University of Arizona and the Arizona Board of Regents on a broad range of sophisticated legal matters and complex issues, working closely with University constituents, including University leadership.

Duties and Responsibilities
Advise and represent University administrators on matters including complex business transactions, contracts, public procurement, gifting, real estate and financing.
Working closely with other attorneys in the Office of the General Counsel, as well as University administrators, faculty, and staff, interact with outside counsel, other governmental offices, University-affiliated organizations, and the Arizona Board of Regents.
Assist in developing and providing training and educational programs for administrators, faculty, staff, and other University colleagues.
Contribute to the collaborative planning and execution of UA strategic priorities.
Represent UA locally and elsewhere as directed. Responsibilities will involve travel within the State of Arizona and may involve travel outside the State.
Engage in continuous education and improvement in legal practice and knowledge through professional development. Attend and participate as a presenter at conferences and workshops as appropriate and as requested.

Minimum Qualifications
J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
Licensed in the State of Arizona, in good standing, with a minimum of five years of substantial and progressively responsible legal experience practicing law; applicants not licensed in Arizona must be licensed and in good standing in another state and must become a member in good standing of the State Bar of Arizona within one year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Seven or more years of complex, high-level legal practice after bar licensure
Experience representing large research academic institutions, colleges, or universities
