The Office of the General Counsel at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona, is accepting applications for up to 2 available Associate General Counsel positions. The Office of the General Counsel represents and advises the University of Arizona and the Arizona Board of Regents on a broad range of legal matters and complex issues. The selected attorneys will advise and represent University administrators and provide advice and counsel on matters including:
Clinical research undertaken at both of the University’s academic medical centers and affiliated teaching hospitals; college of medicine accreditation by the LCME; undergraduate and graduate medical education, including teaching affiliations; ACGME requirements for residency and fellowship programs; and HIPAA and its implementing regulations, including Privacy and Security Rules
Research compliance and informed consent to participate in research issues, including human subject protection and IRB matters; conflicts of interest and commitment; and research funded by NIH or Public Health Service, including research grant preparation, implementation, and compliance
Student-related matters, policies, and procedures; student conduct hearings; Title IX; Constitutional and legislative matters; shared governance; administrative law matters; FERPA; and public records
Litigation strategy and management, including close coordination with the Arizona Attorney General’s Office; selection of outside counsel if necessary; and litigation practice, including advocacy, court appearances, and drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery
